Office of Investigations - Chief Investigative Counsel

The Chief Investigative Counsel is comprised of the Major Case Unit (MCU) and the Office of Special Reviews and Professional Responsibility (OSRPR). The MCU conducts complex criminal investigations that span multiple jurisdictions and involve multiple agencies. The OSRPR conducts complex and sensitive oversight activities, including whistleblower retaliation investigations, misconduct by SSA senior officials and OIG personnel, and special reviews.

The Chief Investigative Counsel serves as SSA’s Whistleblower Protection Coordinator and carries out key functions related to Whistleblower Rights and Protections.
