Office of the Chief Strategy Officer

The Office of the Chief Strategy Officer (OCSO) provides executive-level advice, guidance, and support to the Inspector General on key mission-critical issues, initiatives, and functions. OCSO manages congressional and intergovernmental affairs; issues press releases and directs communications with the public and the media; participates on key working groups with the Agency and public and private partners; and leads strategic planning, records management, and enterprise risk management efforts. OCSO partners with the Agency to combat Social Security-related and other government imposter scams and is a co-leader in the annual Slam the Scam Day.

OCSO also provides strategic advice and guidance so that the OIG can achieve optimal performance in all areas and proactively consider strategies to handle impediments and issues of an urgent nature. The Chief Strategy Officer serves as the Co-Chair of SSA’s National Antifraud Committee alongside SSA’s Deputy Commissioner for Analytics, Review, and Oversight.
