New Mexico Woman Sentenced for $384,000 SSI and Medicaid Fraud

ALBUQUERQUE – Judith Ann Sanchez, 60, of Albuquerque, N.M., was sentenced today in federal court to three years of probation for her theft of government property conviction. Sanchez was also ordered to pay $384,579 in restitution to the Social Security Administration (SSA) which represents the money she fraudulently obtained from the SSA.
Sanchez pled guilty on May 5, 2015, to a felony information charging her with theft of government property. In entering the guilty plea, Sanchez admitted that from Oct. 1, 1990 through April 2012, she embezzled money from SSA in the form of Supplemental Security Income Program benefits, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits and Medicaid benefits. Sanchez admitted she received payments from these programs in the total amount of $384,579 to which she was not entitled.
This case was investigated by the Social Security Administration and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S Attorney Paul Mysliwiec.
