Oklahoma Woman Sentenced to 48 Months Probation for Making False Statements to SSA
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, announced today that ROSIE KAY STEPHENS, age 62, of Gore, Oklahoma, was sentenced to 48 months probation with the first six months to be home confinement for False Statement, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1001(a)(2). STEPHENS was further ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $69,731.00. Charges arose from an investigation by the Social Security Administration, Office of Inspector General. STEPHENS was indicted on September 14, 2011, by the Grand Jury sitting in and for the Eastern District of Oklahoma in Muskogee. On or about May 22, 2010, STEPHENS, knowingly and willfully made and caused to be made a false, fictitious and fraudulent statement and representation as to a material fact in a matter within the jurisdiction of the Social Security Administration, an agency of the United States, in that on a Social Security Form SSA-821, Work Activity Report, STEPHENS, stated and represented that she had worked an average of 24 hours a week for $8.33 an hour starting pay since June, 2009, when in truth and fact, STEPHENS well knew, she worked in excess of 24 hours on the average and received income more than $8.33 an hour starting pay from her employment. The Honorable James H. Payne, District Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, in Muskogee, presided over today’s hearing.
