Adjustment of Overpayment Balances Related to Title II Critical Payments

Objective: To determine whether the Social Security Administration (SSA) properly adjusted overpayment balances after it issued certain Title II critical payments. Specifically, our work focused on critical payments made after SSA withheld all or part of a beneficiary’s monthly payment to recover a previous overpayment.
