Performance Indicator Audit - Improper Payments

Each year, the Social Security Administration reports payment accuracy rates for Old-Age and Survivors Insurance, Disability Insurance, and Supplemental Security Income programs based on its stewardship reviews. SSA reports payments that should not have been made or inaccurate payments that were made as improper.

This review sought to understand and document the sources of data that SSA collected to report on the specific performance indicators in its benefit programs.
