Office of Government Relations
The Office of Government Relations (OGR) provides executive-level advice, guidance, and support to the Inspector General on key mission-critical issues, initiatives, and functions. OGR manages congressional and intergovernmental affairs; issues press releases and directs communications with the public and the media; and participates on key working groups with the Agency and public and private partners. OGR partners with the Agency to combat Social Security-related and other government imposter scams and is a co-leader in the annual Slam the Scam Day.
OGR also provides strategic advice and guidance so that the OIG can achieve optimal performance in all areas and proactively consider strategies to handle impediments and issues of an urgent nature. The Chief of Government Relations serves as the Co-Chair of SSA’s National Antifraud Committee alongside SSA’s Deputy Commissioner for Analytics, Review, and Oversight.
