"Beyond the Numbers" Commenting Policy

Welcome to the Official Blog of the SSA Office of the Inspector General!

This is a moderated blog, meaning that all comments will be reviewed for appropriate content. Please show respect to those who will read your comments. Comments that do not directly relate to the Social Security Administration Office of the Inspector General will be considered “off topic” and may not be posted. Any comments that include abusive or vulgar language, spam, hate speech, personal attacks, or similar content will not be posted, and repeated submission of such posts may result in the user being blocked from future commenting. We reserve the right to determine which comments are acceptable for posting.

Please do not submit Social Security benefit inquiries or comments here. You can contact the Social Security Administration here. We will remove posts with benefit inquiries or comments; be aware that such posts do not protect benefit filing dates or deadlines, or provide any other substantive rights with regard to Social Security programs.

Although we anticipate discussion on this blog about Social Security fraud, if you wish to report someone committing fraud, waste, or abuse against Social Security, please do not report that here—blog comments will not be processed as fraud allegations. Instead, please submit your allegations through our Fraud Hotline.

We recognize that the internet is a 24/7 medium, and your comments are welcome at any time. However, we will generally review comments and post them from 9 a.m.—5 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday. We will read and post comments submitted after hours, on weekends, or on holidays as early as possible the next business day.

To protect your own privacy, and the privacy of others, please do not include personal information or personally identifiable information such as names, addresses, phone numbers or e-mail addresses in the body of your comment. We reserve the right to modify your comments to delete such information, or to deem the entire submission unusable.

Except when specifically noted, any views or opinions expressed on this forum are those of the individual bloggers. The views and posted comments do not necessarily reflect those of the Social Security Administration Office of Inspector General, or the Federal government.

Thank you for taking the time to read this comment policy and disclaimer. We encourage your participation in our discussion and look forward to an active exchange of ideas!
