The Office of Investigations

The Office of Investigations (OI) conducts investigations on allegations of fraud and misconduct related to SSA programs, operations, and employees.

OI also:

  • operates the OIG Hotline, which allows taxpayers to report suspected fraud, waste, and abuse;
  • oversees the Cooperative Disability Investigations (CDI) program, click here for additional information; and
  • coordinates with the Department of Justice, State or local prosecutors, and other law enforcement authorities to leverage resources.
