Amy M. Smith
Amy M. Smith serves as the Executive Officer in the Immediate Office. Ms. Smith has served as a Human Resources Specialist within the OIG’s Office of Technology and Resource Management/Human Resources, Budget and Logistics Division Staff since January 2011. Previously, she served as a Human Resources Specialist within the SSA’s Office of the Deputy Commissioner for Human Resources/Office of Personnel providing personnel security and suitability advice to both OIG and the Senior Executive Service staff across the Agency. Ms. Smith has received numerous awards including a 2006 Deputy Commissioner’s Citation and a 2010 Commissioner’s Citation.
Prior to joining SSA in 2004, Ms. Smith worked as a Laboratory Technician within the medical genetics field at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and also worked as a Secondary Educator for the Carroll County Public School system, where she taught high school Chemistry and Spanish, and coached Varsity Field Hockey and Lacrosse. Ms. Smith received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish, Chemistry, and Biology from Western Maryland College in addition to playing Division III Field Hockey and Lacrosse for the Green Terrors. Ms. Smith is also a graduate of The Johns Hopkins University with a Master’s of Science degree in Biotechnology.
