Georgia Woman Fraudulently Takes Dead Woman’s Title II Benefits

A Georgia woman, serving as representative payee for a deceased beneficiary, failed to report the beneficiary’s death in November 2006 and continued to accept and use her Title II benefits for 33 months.  By failing to report her death and accepting those benefits for nearly three years, the subject committed 33 separate material withholdings.  OCIG imposed a $66,000 penalty and a 35,634 assessment, for a total recovery of $101,634.
