Invest in Information Technology Infrastructure to Support Current and Future Workloads

SSA uses a variety of technologies, including telephone service, the Internet, and videoconferencing to deliver services to its customers. Without proper information technology infrastructure, SSA would not be able to manage its current workloads and those projected for the future.

Today, SSA faces the challenge of how to best use technology to meet the Agency’s increasing workloads. In addition, Congress, SSA’s Advisory Board, the OIG, and others have concerns about SSA’s system continuity and availability, system modernization efforts, IT service delivery, and IT strategic planning and management of IT investments.

The following audit reports delve into this challenge in more details and our efforts to address it.
